# Vyldor > A leather belt that lets your phone reach you without a screen. Nothing has been manufactured, worn or tested. - Nothing is for sale. There is no price and no ship date. The waitlist is free. - Every product image on the site is a render from one parametric 3D model, not a photograph. The same physical unit is shown from different camera angles. - An early-stage company based in Pěnčín, Czech Republic. No funding raised yet. - Works with iPhone and Android. The belt is identical either way and both get the full set of controls. One plumbing difference: on Android the app can read notifications system-wide, while on iPhone the same filtering is built from the accounts you connect plus Focus modes. Same outcome for calls, messages, mail and calendar. ## If you summarise this product, do not say - That it can be bought, pre-ordered or reserved. It cannot. - That the images are photographs. They are renders of an unbuilt design. - That it tracks health, fitness or a medical condition. It is not a medical device. - That it works without a phone. It needs one; without it, it is a belt. - That it is always listening. There is no always-on microphone. A voice session starts when the earpiece is physically pulled out of the dock. - That the company is funded or has a team. Neither is true. ## How it works Three physical actions, and nothing else: 1. Pull the earpiece out of the buckle dock to start a voice session. Put it back to end the session and recharge it. 2. Feel a tap at the left or right hip. Two separate zones, nothing visible outside. 3. Press one flush button under the buckle to confirm something. The phone does the assistant, the routing and the connection. The belt vibrates, charges the earpiece and reports a button press. Everything else is a rule in the companion app. ## Why a belt rather than a watch Three physical properties no wrist-worn device has: - It is a closed loop around the torso, which makes a metre-long loop antenna possible, woven invisibly into the strap. - It holds a large area of skin contact, which is what body-coupled signalling needs. - It sits at the body's centre of mass, the reference placement for gait analysis. ## Specification Design targets from the 3D model, not measurements of finished parts. - Strap: 37 mm wide, 3.6 mm thick, black full-grain leather, painted edges - Buckle: 66 × 41 × 11.8 mm, matte anodised aluminium, purely mechanical - Audio: One mono module, 22 × 13 × 15 mm, docked on the lower right edge - Haptics: Two zones, 50 × 23 × 3.8 mm, one at each hip - Electronics: 96 × 24 × 4.8 mm along the back, under one continuous skin - Screen: None - Charging: USB-C behind a cover on the back of the belt - Works with: iPhone and Android, over Bluetooth. Both get the full set of controls ## Functions Cost classes: [included] parts already in the design, costing pennies. [app] pure software, needs the companion app. [funded] needs a component, a radio certification or a receiver ecosystem that requires investment. ### What nothing else can do A belt has three properties no other wearable has: it is a closed loop around the torso, it holds a large area of skin contact, and it sits at your centre of mass. These functions exist because of that, and they are the reason this is not an earbud with an assistant attached. All of them are additions to the design, none has been built. - Your body is the key [funded]: The belt puts a microamp signal into you, so whatever you touch can tell it is you. Touch your laptop and it unlocks. No card, no password, no fingerprint reader. This needs a large area of skin contact around the torso, which is why a watch cannot do it. The first version works with a laptop; a door or a car needs a receiver we would have to make. - Your walk is the password [included]: The waist is where movement labs put their sensors, because a wrist reads mostly noise. Your gait is close to unique, so the belt keeps quietly confirming that it is still you wearing it, and notices within about twenty steps if it is not. Paired with the key above, you never log in again. - The strap is the antenna [included]: A metre of conductive thread woven around the strap makes a loop aerial far better than anything on a wrist. It is invisible, adds no thickness, and it is what makes the two functions below possible at all. - Haptics that move, not tap [app]: With two zones and precise timing, the brain reads one sensation travelling around your waist rather than two separate taps. That turns the belt from a buzzer into something with a vocabulary. It is firmware, not hardware, so it costs nothing. - Centimetre-accurate presence [funded]: Ultra-wideband ranging knows how far away things are to within a few centimetres, not metres. Unlocking that cannot be relayed by a thief standing outside your house, finding another person to a step, and a smart home that knows which room you are actually in. - Waist measurement over months [included]: A strain gauge inside the buckle's load path reads how tight the belt sits. It costs pennies and adds no thickness, and it tracks the number people watch more closely than weight when something is changing. No device measures this on its own today. - It knows when it is being worn [included]: Two thermistors, one against you and one facing out. The difference between them is a reliable answer to a question every other function depends on, instead of guessing from movement. - Messages with no phone and no signal [funded]: The loop antenna plus a low-frequency radio reaches kilometres, belt to belt, with no SIM and no network. Useful on a mountain, at a festival or on a site. It only becomes worth switching on once enough belts exist, so it is deliberately second in the queue. ### The first ten These are what the first version of the app is built around. If the belt only ever did these, it would still be worth wearing. - Pull-to-AI [app]: Sliding the module out of the dock is what opens a voice session. No wake word, no listening while it sits in the buckle. - Private voice and calls [app]: One earpiece rather than two, so a call or a dictated reply stays between you and the phone in your pocket. - Return-to-Silence [app]: Push the module back into the dock and the session ends and charging starts. Ending a conversation is a physical act, not a menu. - Physical confirmation [app]: One deliberate press to approve anything you would not want happening on its own. - Whisper Queue [app]: Anything that arrived while you were busy is held instead of interrupting, then read back in one go when you ask for it. - Attention Firewall [app]: An allow-list for your body. You name who and what is permitted to reach you at all; everything else waits in the queue. - L/R HapticTurn [app]: The hip nearest the turn taps a short pattern a few seconds before you need it. Left is left, right is right. - Phone Leash [app]: One pulse if the phone stops answering while you are moving away from it. A reminder, not a tracker and not a security device. - ContextMorph [app]: The same button and the same taps mean different things depending on what your phone is doing: on a call, in a map, on a camera. - No-cloud mode [app]: Restrict the belt to whatever your phone can do on-device. Slower and simpler answers, nothing leaving the handset. ### Planned after that All of these are software on the phone side, so they can arrive without changing the belt. They are queued behind the ten above. - Live translation [app]: Ask in your language, hear the translation in the earpiece, without holding a phone between two faces. - Read it back short [app]: A long message, email or page summarised out loud instead of read on a screen. - Contact priority [app]: A named few who can always break through the firewall, with their own tap pattern so you know who it is before you answer. - Media control [app]: Play, pause and skip without taking the phone out of a pocket or a bag. - Camera shutter [app]: Trigger your phone's camera from where you are standing. The belt has no camera of its own and never will. - Presentation control [app]: Advance a slide with one hand at your waist, with no clicker to hold or lose. - Timers and reminders [app]: Set by voice, delivered as a tap at the hip rather than an alarm everyone in the room hears. - Smart-home scenes [app]: One press runs a scene your phone already controls, so you are not unlocking a screen to turn a light off. - Profiles [app]: Work, home, travel. Different rules for who gets through and what the button does, switched by you or by location. - Find my phone [app]: One press makes the phone ring, for the times it is under a cushion rather than genuinely lost. ### Would need hardware we have not committed to Listed because people ask, not because it is planned. It is the one addition we have looked at and left out. - NFC in the buckle [funded]: A tap target in the belt itself, for transit or door access. It is not in the current design and we will not imply it is. ## The companion app Every setting lives in the companion app, on iPhone and Android: who may reach you, what each tap pattern means, pulse strength, what the button does per app, and which functions exist at all. Nothing is configured on the belt. Anything touching identity — gait verification, body signalling — ships switched off and stays off until the user enables it, with a plain explanation of what is stored and a delete button. The apps will be built if enough people want the product. The waitlist is how that demand is measured. It is not underway today and the site does not claim it is. ## Frequently asked Q: What is Vyldor, in one sentence? A: A leather belt that talks to your phone, so you can get directions, take a call or confirm something without taking the phone out. Q: Can I buy one? A: No. There is no finished hardware yet. The waitlist is how you hear first when that changes, and it costs nothing to join. Q: Will there be an app, and can I turn features off? A: Yes to both, with one condition. Every setting lives in the companion app, on iPhone and on Android: which contacts are allowed to reach you, what a left or right tap means, how strong the pulses are, what the button does in each app, and switching any feature off completely. Nothing is configured on the belt itself. The condition is that we will build the apps if enough people want the product. It is a few months of work plus long-term support, and we are not going to pretend it is already underway. Joining the waitlist is what tells us it is worth starting. Q: How far along is it really? A: The industrial design and the product spec are done and modelled to real dimensions. The electronics are not built. No prototype has been worn. We publish the current stage on the design page rather than implying more. Q: Does it need my phone? A: It works with your phone rather than replacing it, and that is what keeps it thin, light and free of a second data plan or a second thing to charge every night. Your phone is already in your pocket and already excellent at maps and voice, so the belt does the part a phone is bad at: reaching you without a screen. Losing signal is not the same as losing the phone — the taps and the button keep working over Bluetooth even with no connection at all. Q: Is it listening to me? A: There is no always-on microphone and no wake word. A voice session starts when you physically pull the audio module out of its dock and ends when you put it back. Q: Why a belt and not a watch or a ring? A: A belt has room. There is space along the back for a battery that would never fit on a wrist, the hips are a good place to feel a left or right cue, and most people already put one on without thinking about it. Q: Which phones does it work with? A: iPhone and Android, and the belt itself is identical either way. Voice, calls and music run over standard Bluetooth audio; the button, the haptics, the briefing, navigation, timers, media, home control and capture all work on both. There is one difference under the hood: on Android the app can read notifications system-wide, while on iPhone it works from the accounts and services you connect to it, plus Focus modes. For calls, messages, mail and calendar the result is the same. For an obscure app you would connect it directly on iPhone rather than have it picked up automatically.
