A belt, because nobody needs another screen on their wrist
Vyldor is an early-stage hardware project in Europe. Right now it is a finished design, a working 3D model and a plan we are willing to publish before we know whether it survives.
The idea started with an annoyance rather than a market study. Walking through a city I did not know, I took my phone out of my pocket so many times to check one turn that I stopped looking at the place I had come to see.
A watch does not fix that. It moves the same glance from your pocket to your wrist and adds a device to charge. What I wanted was to be told, not shown.
A belt turned out to be a surprisingly good place to put that. It has length, so a battery can be thin instead of thick. It touches you on both sides, so left and right actually mean something. And most people already put one on in the morning without treating it as a gadget.
None of which proves it works. A tap at the hip might turn out to be unreliable through a coat. The belt might be a millimetre too thick to be comfortable. Those are the questions we are spending the next few months on, and they are cheap questions to answer, which is the only reason a project this small can attempt them.

Rules we set for ourselves
Hardware projects get into trouble by describing renders as products. These are the lines we agreed not to cross, written down so you can hold us to them.
Every render is labelled
Not one image on this site is a photograph. They are all renders of the design model, and it says so under them.
No feature described as finished
Nothing here has run on hardware. The status page lists what exists, and it is short.
No date we cannot keep
We will not publish a ship date until something has been worn for a full day without failing.

Email goes to the person building this, not a support queue. If you make leather goods, machine small metal parts, write embedded firmware or have done haptics properly before, that is the most useful email we can get.
